Wireless Field Technician

About the role:

You will be responsible for providing Wireless/IT field technical support and network issue resolution to various communications networks within NYC. Key responsibilities include maintaining a large scale carrier-grade wireless cellular Distributed Antenna System (DAS) and Wireless LAN (WLAN) including but not limited to DAS components, fiber optic cables, WiFi AP’s, & LAN/WAN switches. Additionally, this position will occasionally work with and maintain serving BTS locations including assistance with troubleshooting, monitoring and access coordination.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform reactive and preventative maintenance on DAS and Wi-Fi and other related systems
  • Perform diagnostic troubleshooting and replacement of operational devices as needed
  • Provide 24×7 support of datacenter, DAS & WiFi nodes, responding as needed
  • Document, track, log, and monitor network related problems and ensure a timely resolution
  • With your experience, recommend upgrades/changes to procedures and policies for continuous process and network improvement
  • Provide scheduled and unscheduled maintenance or assistance within a datacenter environment
  • Work at both new and existing locations handling preventative maintenance and ensuring all work is performed to manufacturer, engineering and Transit Wireless specifications.
  • Working as a team, perform PIM testing and issue mitigation on platforms in the NYC subway environment
  • Work with hand tools and test equipment in NYC subway, datacenter and office environments

Skills and Experience:

  • Solid experience in similar positions including Wireless/RF/WiFi
  • Understanding of the testing and troubleshooting of cellular network RF hardware. DAS, integration, WiFi and Public safety.
  • Experience with fiber optic cable and related test equipment
  • Experience in RF system build out and the various hardware components.
  • Technical background in Wi-Fi network maintenance
  • PIM, Fiber and coax testing experience
  • You’ll be experienced using Microsoft Office and most importantly you’ll have strong troubleshooting and organizational skills, good interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

Technical Data Analyst

About the role:

The Data Analyst will provide high level reports to executives, ad-hoc reports to the Network Operations, Marketing, Finance, Business Development departments, and provide support and understanding of the WiFi product and business intelligence initiatives.The successful candidate is responsible for presenting and delivering actionable insights to various stakeholders. Along with intuitive data, reporting (daily/weekly/monthly) on various KPI metrics that capture stats/performance of WiFi network, advertising data, and other network data sources is a key aspect of this job. The use of data mining and visualization techniques to identify trends, patterns, and incidents along with drawing relationships between cause and effect will be critical. This individual will have technology-specific acumen in combination with data analysis, scripting and automation technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Create reports that identify and measure various metrics related to WiFi network performance, ad campaign performance and other data points
  • Generate queries, analyze data, create visualizations/dashboards and reports/presentations to provide various stakeholders with actionable insights
  • Extract, understand, format, and map data from multiple sources into cohesive reports
  • Collaborate with Business Development team and other key stakeholders on a regular basis on various data and reporting needs
  • Maintains report forms and formats, information dashboards, data generators, canned reports and other end-user information portals or resources
  • Generates ad hoc reports for end-users using system tools and database queries and scripts

Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency and advanced level understanding in MS Excel is a must
  • Experience with database technologies, SQL and ability to create advanced queries
  • Hands on experience with various scripting languages such as Python for automation and manipulating data is highly preferred
  • Experience with REST based API scripting is preferred
  • Experience in Testing program with familiarity in A/B testing
  • Ability to analyze and draw insights from very large datasets and tell a story with data to business stakeholders
  • Familiarity with ELK Stack, Tableau and Amazon AWS is a plus
  • Team player with client service experience who is deadline driven, organized and able to multi-task
  • Experience working in an Agile environment a bonus

Qualifications:

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Statistics or equivalent is preferred
  • Experience in quantitative roles focusing on data analysis, interpretation, research, and insights
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and attention to detail
  • Be able to work individually and as part of a team
  • 1-2 years of experience in a data analysis role

DEVELOPMENT OPERATIONS ENGINEER

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The DevOps Engineer will work with the rest of the Network Engineering department on automating tasks related to network uptime, reporting, network service integration, and security. In addition the DevOps Engineer will be an integral part in the day-to-day operations and planning for the future of the infrastructure.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Develop and automate standard operating procedures around common failure scenarios (e.g. scripted/automated rollback, failovers, escalation procedures, etc.)
  • Monitor, analyze, and report performance statistics
  • Consult on overall production system architecture
  • Develop test automation frameworks in collaboration with other team members

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Solid experience in similar positions and hold Technical Certification or Associate Degree
  • Ideally some knowledge of BTS Protocol including GSM, CDMA, UMTS, LTE technologies
  • Ideally some knowledge of Call Testing equipment such as NEMO, TEM, or equivalent
  • Ideally WIFI Protocol knowledge including 802.11g and 802.11n technologies
  • Ideally Anritsu or similar spectrum analyzer and network analyzer equipment certification
  • You’ll be experienced using Microsoft Office and most importantly you’ll have strong troubleshooting and organizational skills, good interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Strong hands-on experience with deployment, scripting and automation (Shell, Python, TCL, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of load balancing network services such as RADIUS, HTTP, and DNS
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and  TCP/IP stack
  • Strong experience with configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet, etc.
  • Experience with Logstash, Grafana and other monitoring/graphing tools
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, etc.
  • Experience with MySQL as well as NoSQL databases (Elastic, Mongo)
  • Experience with source control systems such as Git
