Meet Peter Izzo, one of our best and brightest Project Engineers. He has been with Transit Wireless since the summer of 2015, when he started as a Field Engineer. Peter is part of our Project Execution team and enjoys seeing how technology can bring people together and change communities for the better. From his professional career to his personal life, he can tell you firsthand that technology can bring us a little bit closer.
• Why did you want to come to TW?
Transit Wireless was in the middle of the large WiCom project in the subway, and connecting riders sounded fascinating. I just wanted to be a part of something big in scope, and I felt like I could make an immediate impact. My team members supported me and let me learn and grow alongside them. I am forever grateful for that opportunity; it really shaped my life for the better.
• What makes TW such a special place to work?
I am amazed at how many brilliant individuals work here. It is amazing. There is just so much to learn and do. We all work together to achieve complex goals, making every day exciting and new. There’s a sense of optimism as we accomplish challenging projects – and we have fun doing it too.
• What project have you worked on that you are most proud?
During the pandemic, I was promoted to Field Technician Supervisor and was responsible for supporting the Canarsie Tunnel project. It was challenging to operate because of Covid protocols, distance requirements, and supply chain issues. But the project was a huge success, and it is really cool to see people on the L-Train using mobile devices through the tunnel. I just smile and know I had something to do with that.
• Is there something personal you can share with us?
Yes, about 4 Years Ago my fiancé and I were married in Kobe, Japan. It was a traditional Japanese wedding with both families in attendance. We keep in touch with her family in Japan over video live stream, texts and calls. So even though they are on the other side of the World, it is really like they are living next door. I think technology is just amazing.
